Data migration is the process of transferring information from one system to another. As you bring data from your old system into Lumary AH, we automate a lot of this process. However, for some records, it's more effective to copy or set them up manually. We call this manual data migration.
This usually means opening a tab or window in your legacy system alongside a tab or window for Lumary AH and:
- copying from your legacy system and pasting into Lumary AH, or
- recreating your legacy system's records using Lumary AH's forms and calendars.

Manual migration provides an opportunity for thorough data cleansing and standardisation. This can help ensure data accuracy and integrity. It provides an opportunity to:
- review and enhance the quality of your data
- eliminate duplicate or outdated information, and
- align it with the Lumary AH best-practice data standards.
Key records
Records that need manual migration are usually those that draw on a wide range of related records. For example:
- service agreements, which draw on information from client, worker, site, service, asset, region and other records, and
- appointments, which draw on information from client, service, rate, site, consent and other records.
The data models used to coordinate these records in legacy systems generally don't map to Lumary AH's best-practice relational database.
